I woke up this morning and happened to not feel very inspired to write anything today. I wasn't planning on writing anything new today, but then as I was eating lunch and watching 3:10 to Yuma (a western with Christian Bale and Russel-imagine me getting inspired by that!), and reading Style A to Zoe by Rachel Zoe, I came across a quote that kind of hit me:
"Buy something because you love it, you need it, and you'll use it."
Many times I find myself wanting to buy things just because and then it sits in the back of my closet unworn with the tags still on, and this quote just made sense. I agree with the mantra that you can spend money on something, but you have to be able to wear it more than once. Take deciding whether or not to buy a black boyfriend fit blazer from H&M for $49.50 or a blue khaki pinstripe blazer from American Eagle for $39.50. When thinking which to purchase, think about how often you would wear each blazer and to what events, along with how you could pair it up with other pieces in your closet. Example of my thought process- You can wear the pinstripe blazer to work (if your job allows you to dress casually), out with a group of friends to dinner and a movie, and shopping on a Saturday. The khaki, blue pinstripe might be hard to pair with a few other work-attire pieces. The black boyfriend blazer you can wear out to dinner with friends or clients, to the office, to a meeting, paired with jeans, a t shirt and heels for date night or shopping on the weekend, to a wedding. So which would you buy? In my opinion, I would spend the $10.00 because you could probably get more use out of the black blazer, while looking stylish and professional at the same time.

Come one, come all

Well, here it starts. Thanks to my best friend Sara and her lovely and creative sister Amy, WITH a little extra prodding from Momma K, and a little bit of free time, I have decided to start my own blog! Welcome.
You may ask, why "Ramblings of a Wayward Shopper"? See, I have this hobby and am kind of passionate about it...it just happens to be a pricey one. The name of the game is fashion, people! Not only do I love shopping, but I have a real passion for the fashion industry. People have said that it is a "talent", that I have "an eye for what looks good", but I don't know.
What I DO know is that I fully believe that the clothes that you put on every day, will shape your mood and outlook on life and yourself. One of my favorite quotes is:
"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little influence."- Mark Twain
I feel that if you have an ill-fitting pair of jeans or dress pants, matched with a loose, boring top, paired with an old pair of sneakers...you're setting yourself up for a loss of pep in your step! One of my favorite things to do is going through people's closets (What Not to Wear style) and pick out the things to "throw"/donate to Goodwill, and to keep. Believe it or not, you DO have awesome stuff in your closet! I've also got some fun tips on what looks good for different body shapes too... So that is where I am headed with this blog. I will probably post not only ramblings from my mind, but interesting articles, pictures and facts about fashion, life, God, friends and family.
Over and out,
